Taylor Swift's Wardrobe Malfunction Fix during Surprise Eras Tour

Taylor Swift paused her unannounced acoustic set during her international "Eras Tour" to handle a wardrobe malfunction.

During her "Eras Tour" stop in London on Friday, Taylor Swift was surprised with a warm welcome from Prince William and his two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. After Swift's electrifying performance at Wembley Stadium, the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photograph of the "Fortnite" singer and the royal trio taking a backstage selfie.

Swift subsequently posted a selfie featuring herself with Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, on her own Instagram account. "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start," she captioned the post.

Prince William celebrated his 42nd birthday by joining his children at Swift's Eras Tour concert at London's Wembley Stadium on Friday. According to royal reporter Roya Nikkah, they were among the 90,000 Swifties in attendance at the pop star's sold-out show.

"Nothing says happy 42nd birthday quite like taking the kids to see a @taylorswift13 #ErasTour gig. Prince William is celebrating his birthday tonight at @wembleystadium with his children," Nikkah tweeted on X.

Kate Middleton, William's wife, was notably absent from the concert. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales has been receiving cancer chemotherapy and has kept a low profile in recent months.

Taylor Swift has had a previous encounter with Prince William. In 2013, they first met at a Centrepoint Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace. The royal later joined Swift and Bon Jovi for a rendition of the rock legend's 1986 hit "Livin' on a Prayer."

In a 2021 episode of Apple Fitness+'s "Time to Walk" series, William recounted the genesis of the viral moment. "I'm sitting next to Taylor Swift. She's on my left. And after Jon [Bon Jovi] does his first song, there's a pause and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, 'Come on, William. Let's go and sing,'" he recalled.

"To this day, I still do not know what came over me," William added. "I got up like a puppy and went, 'Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I'll follow you.'"

Prior to William and his children's appearance on Friday, Buckingham Palace gave Swift a royal reception in the United Kingdom. The Royal Family and the Army in London's official Instagram accounts posted a video of the Changing of the Guard, a royal ceremony, in which the Military band performed Swift's hit "Shake It Off" at Buckingham Palace.

Swift's Eras Tour has been filled with surprises, including a performance by Phoebe Bridgers and Marcus Mumford. The tour will continue to make stops in the United States before concluding in Los Angeles on August 9, 2023.
