Tennessee Murder Suspect Falls Through Ceiling into the Arms of U.S. Marshals

A Tennessee murder suspect tried to evade capture by hiding in an attic, but his luck ran out when he fell through the ceiling and into the hands of U.S. Marshals.

The U.S. Marshals Service has reported a peculiar incident resulting in the capture of a murder suspect who fell through a ceiling in a Memphis residence. Deario Wilkerson, a 20-year-old suspect sought for a fatal shooting in April, attempted to conceal himself in an attic, unbeknownst to the agents who were closing in on him.

Wilkerson had been evading capture since April 2, when he allegedly shot and killed Troy Cunningham. On Monday, August 26, a task force investigating Wilkerson's whereabouts tracked him to a home in Memphis. The agents commenced their search within the residence.

As the agents conducted their search, Wilkerson sought refuge in the attic. However, his attempt to remain hidden proved futile. To the amusement of the law enforcement officers, Wilkerson literally fell into their grasp as he tumbled through the ceiling.

Despite the dramatic fall, Wilkerson sustained no injuries. He was promptly taken into custody without any resistance.

Wilkerson's capture marked the third arrest in connection with Cunningham's death. Jarius Hibbler and Tamarius Barron were previously apprehended in May.

On April 2, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office reported that police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex. Amidst the commotion, several gunshots rang out. Upon investigation, officers discovered Cunningham lying lifeless on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head.
