Texans Lose Leading Receiver Collins to Hamstring Injury

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins, the NFL's leading receiver, will miss at least four games after being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

The Houston Texans have suffered a major blow to their offense, as leading receiver Nico Collins has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Collins, who is in his fourth NFL season, has 32 receptions for an NFL-best 567 yards with three touchdowns. He and quarterback C.J. Stroud have carried the offense with running back Joe Mixon out for the past three games with an ankle injury.

Collins left Houston's 23-20 victory over the Bills on Sunday after scoring on a 67-yard reception late in the first quarter. Coach DeMeco Ryans said Monday that he considered Collins week to week with the injury before the Texans made the move to shut him down for a month Wednesday.

The injury is a significant loss for the Texans, who are 4-1 and in first place in the AFC South. Collins has been a key target for Stroud, and his absence will put more pressure on other receivers to step up.

The Texans will likely turn to Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell to carry more of the load in Collins' absence. Diggs has 25 receptions for 392 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Dell has 16 receptions for 223 yards.

The Texans will also need to find a way to replace Collins' production in the red zone. Collins has three of the Texans' seven touchdown receptions this season.

The Texans will play the first of two straight road games Sunday at New England. They will then return home to face the Tennessee Titans on October 23rd.

The Texans are hoping to get Collins back for their Week 8 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. However, it is possible that he could miss more time depending on the severity of the injury.

The loss of Collins is a major blow to the Texans' offense, but they will need to find a way to adjust without him if they want to continue their success.
