Kidanny Robles, 33, was discovered missing during a routine count at the Clemens Unit trusty camp. An investigation revealed that he had walked away from the facility, which serves as a housing location outside the main prison for inmates with a lower level of supervision.

Local and state law enforcement officials, along with the Office for the Inspector General, initiated a search for Robles. After nearly 10 hours, he was located three miles from the prison facility.

Upon being approached by authorities, Robles refused to comply and was shot in the arm by a captain from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Robles is currently serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated robbery, robbery, and burglary of a habitat out of Bexar County, as well as a subsequent 180-day sentence for possession of a controlled substance out of Nueces County from 2022.

He now faces additional felony escape charges for the prison escape.

The prison facility where Robles escaped canceled all visitation on Sunday due to staff involvement in the search efforts.

Governor Greg Abbott, a staunch advocate for law enforcement, discussed the incident on 'Hannity,' emphasizing the state's commitment to preventing crime and pursuing justice.

"Texas will not tolerate criminals who threaten our communities," Abbott said. "We will use every available resource to apprehend those who break the law."

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice emphasized the ongoing investigation into the escape and its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of inmates and the community.
