On Wednesday's episode of "The View," the co-hosts relentlessly pressed Charlamagne Tha God to publicly endorse President Biden. The request stemmed from concerns over declining support for Biden among Black voters.

Sunny Hostin, a co-host, expressed her disappointment in Charlamagne's refusal to endorse Biden, emphasizing that it was crucial for prominent figures like him to take a public stance against the threat posed by Donald Trump.

Despite his reluctance to endorse Biden, Charlamagne indicated that he would vote for him, acknowledging the importance of preserving democracy. However, he maintained his belief that both candidates were flawed, a view that Hostin and her co-hosts challenged.

Hostin argued that while many endorsements may not directly influence election outcomes, it was a matter of principle, especially when democracy was at stake. She urged Charlamagne to break through the media's complexities and guide his viewers towards protecting democracy.

During the interview, Whoopi Goldberg supported Hostin's plea, suggesting that Charlamagne's endorsement could help energize Biden's base and overcome the difficulties in reaching out through the media.

Charlamagne responded that he felt both candidates were inadequate but emphasized the need to prioritize protecting democracy. He predicted that the success of either candidate would hinge on their ability to mobilize their respective bases.

"If I think both candidates are trash and I don't feel like endorsing one, would you rather me endorse an individual or endorse the fact that, hey, we need to go out and protect democracy," Charlamagne explained.

Despite Charlamagne's skepticism about Biden's abilities, he repeatedly expressed his concern about Trump's threats to democracy. He cited Trump's attempts to overturn the election results and his call to suspend the Constitution as evidence of his dangerous intentions.

"You saw this person try to lead an attempted coup of this country, and I'm telling people that this guy's a threat to democracy," Charlamagne stated.

The discussion underscores the ongoing debate within the Black community about the upcoming election and the lack of enthusiasm among some Black voters for Biden. Recent polls have indicated a decline in Biden's support among this demographic, raising concerns for Democrats.

Hostin and her co-hosts believe that Charlamagne's endorsement could inspire Black voters and counter the apathy and disengagement that could hinder Biden's chances at the polls. While Charlamagne remains hesitant to endorse Biden specifically, his recognition of the need to protect democracy and his concerns about Trump's actions are notable factors that will likely influence his and many Black voters' decisions in November.
