The View" Reverses Course on Supreme Court, Praises Abortion Pill Ruling

The hosts of the liberal talk show "The View" offered rare praise for the Supreme Court on Thursday after it ruled against a challenge to the abortion pill, despite previously attacking the court as biased.

The co-hosts of the daytime talk show "The View" have offered a surprising reversal of their previous stance on the Supreme Court, praising the court's recent ruling on the abortion pill.

In a unanimous decision on Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that a group of challengers lacked standing to sue the government over the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) approval process for the abortion drug mifepristone.

The hosts of "The View," who have a history of criticizing the Supreme Court for its alleged partisanship, were quick to express their approval of the ruling.

"It's nice to hear good news about the Supreme Court for a change," said co-host Joy Behar.

"It does restore a little bit of my faith in the court," fellow co-host Sunny Hostin confessed.

Hostin praised Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas for following "black-letter law" by agreeing that the challengers lacked standing. However, she expressed concern about the continued reliance on states to determine abortion rights.

Co-host Sara Haines echoed Hostin's sentiments, saying the ruling was a reminder of the importance of "faith in the process."

"We focus so much on the hot topics, on the results, rather than the legal reasoning and always call the judges conservative or liberal. It's about the interpretation of the law, so reminding ourselves to have faith in this judicial [system], especially the Supreme Court, because it's easy to attack them like regular politicians, but we need to remain faithful in our institutions. That's why so many of us are scared," she said.

However, other co-hosts remained skeptical, suggesting that the ruling could be overturned by a future challenger with standing.

"If these had been plaintiffs that had standing and the issue had been in front of the Supreme Court, God only knows," said co-host Ana Navarro.

"I don't trust the whole thing," agreed Behar. "I don't trust the courts. I don't trust the extreme religious right... They want us in the kitchen with 10 kids that we can't feed."

Despite their praise, "The View" co-hosts have a history of attacking the Supreme Court as partisan and biased. Just two days prior to the abortion pill ruling, Behar defended leaked recordings of Justice Alito and his wife, arguing that the conservative justices needed to be "exposed."

"The Supreme Court at the moment is so biased and so pro-theocracy in what you saw that we just watched that somebody has to expose them because they are running around arrogant, and they have the whole GOP on their side, and we're losing the Supreme Court's objectivity and somebody needs to expose them," Behar said.

In March, Hostin also criticized the court for behaving in a "partisan manner."

The reversal of "The View" hosts on the Supreme Court highlights the complex and evolving nature of public opinion on the court and its decisions.
