Tim Scott Rebuts Milwaukee Mayor's Claims About Trump's Black Voter Outreach

South Carolina GOP Senator Tim Scott has challenged Milwaukee's Democratic mayor, Cavalier Johnson, who expressed skepticism about Trump's popularity among Black voters.

**Milwaukee, Wisconsin** - Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) has refuted claims made by Milwaukee's Democratic Mayor, Cavalier Johnson, who questioned the authenticity of former President Donald Trump's increasing support among Black voters. At the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, Scott asserted that Johnson's skepticism would be proven wrong in November.

"Well, November 5th, you will have to buy it. It'll be sold," Scott told Fox News. "I think there's probably a reason why Tim Scott wasn't selected to be the vice president even though Mr. Trump is supposedly trying to make inroads with African Americans," Johnson had said in a press conference. "I don’t buy that, I just don’t."

Johnson dismissed Scott's outreach to the Black community and expressed confidence in President Joe Biden's agenda. However, Scott countered that "if we market our message," Trump could mobilize the highest African-American voter turnout of his presidency.

Acknowledging the challenges in reaching Black women, Scott categorized Black men as "gettable" voters. "If we sell our message sincerely, accurately, with passion, I believe that selling our message to the African-American community will result in a lot of strong turnout," he stated.

While Scott acknowledged the difficulties in gaining support among Black women, he expressed optimism that a 15% turnout rate among Black voters could significantly impact the election outcome.

A USA Today/Suffolk University poll suggests a drop in Black voter support for Biden in key swing states since the 2020 election. However, Fox News polling still indicates a significant lead for Biden among Black voters, albeit narrower than in 2020.

Scott's remarks underscore the Republican Party's efforts to court Black voters and challenge perceptions of their stronghold in the Democratic Party. The extent to which these outreach efforts will translate into votes remains to be seen in the upcoming midterm elections.
