"They have decided that they are going to weaponize the law enforcement and intelligence communities to go after their political opponents," Cotton asserted. "And that is a very dangerous path to go down."
The senator pointed to the FBI's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, which he viewed as a politically motivated attempt to undermine Trump's presidency. He also criticized the Justice Department's ongoing investigation into the events leading up to the January 6 Capitol riot, suggesting that it could be used to unfairly target Trump and his supporters.
"The Democrats are trying to create a new normal in which the law is no longer applied equally to everyone," Cotton warned. "But if we allow them to succeed, it will destroy our democracy."
