Trump Campaign Accuses Harris of Seeking "Escape Hatch" from Debate with Trump

Amid preparations for the upcoming presidential debate, the Trump campaign alleges that the Harris team is attempting to alter the agreed-upon terms, while Trump intensifies his campaign schedule in preparation.

Former President Donald Trump is ramping up his campaign schedule ahead of his highly anticipated debate against Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris, with campaign officials revealing that he plans to connect with voters and field questions from the media as part of his debate preparation strategy.

Trump and Harris are set to face off for the first time in a debate on Tuesday, September 10, on ABC News. The event will be held in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center.

However, last month, the Harris campaign argued that microphones should remain unmuted throughout the debate. The Trump campaign claims that Harris has since agreed to the initial terms.

In the lead-up to the debate, Trump is actively engaging in campaign events, including a town hall with Fox News' Sean Hannity in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Wednesday.

He will travel to New York City on Thursday to address the New York Economic Club and later speak to the Republican Jewish Coalition. On Friday, Trump will visit North Carolina to engage with law enforcement groups and deliver remarks.

A campaign official stated that "he uses rallies and speeches as a big part of debate prep." They added, "Meeting with voters and interacting with the press is a form of getting ready."

Fox News Digital reports that Trump campaign senior adviser Jason Miller is leading debate preparations, supported by Stephen Miller and the policy team.

Meanwhile, the Harris campaign has enlisted the assistance of attorney Karen Dunn from the firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. Dunn had previously prepared Harris for her 2020 vice presidential debate against then-Vice President Mike Pence. Notably, Dunn is also representing Google in the Biden-Harris administration's antitrust lawsuit against the tech giant.

The trial in that case is scheduled to begin on September 9, just one day before the first presidential debate.

Trump campaign senior adviser Tim Murtaugh decried this potential conflict of interest, stating, "Kamala Harris will never stand up to Big Tech because she’s being coached on what to say in the debates by Google’s top lawyer."

Neither the Harris campaign nor Dunn responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
