Trump's Ground Game: Targeting Blue State Voters in Key Battlegrounds

Former President Donald Trump's campaign is intensifying its ground game in battleground states, focusing on reducing Democratic voter registration advantages and mobilizing low-propensity voters.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign is pouring resources into its ground game in key battleground states, targeting Democratic-leaning voters and narrowing the voter registration gap. In Pennsylvania, the gap has been cut from 685,000 registered Democrats to 343,000, while in Nevada, the margin has shrunk from 87,000 to 19,000. North Carolina's Democratic advantage has fallen from 391,000 to 126,000, and Arizona has shifted to a 259,000 Republican advantage.

The campaign's "Get Out the Vote" efforts prioritize low-propensity voters and encourage early voting. Hundreds of paid staff and over 300 Trump/GOP offices are operating across battleground states. The campaign also launched "Trump Force 47," a grassroots initiative mobilizing tens of thousands of volunteers to target critical precincts.

"The Democrats’ massive lead in voter registration in key states is gone," said Trump campaign senior adviser Tim Murtaugh. "And in states where the winner will be decided by mere percentage points, it could make all the difference."

Beyond Trump Force 47, hundreds of thousands more volunteers are engaged in phone banking, canvassing, postcard writing, community organizing, and poll watching. The campaign emphasizes personal contacts with less engaged voters.

"We put a high premium on personal contacts with voters that are less likely to participate in the election," said a campaign official. The campaign seeks to "meet voters where they are" through various outreach methods, including traditional canvassing and social media.

Allied efforts will knock on approximately 15 million doors in battleground states during the voting window. The campaign's field efforts focus on reaching previously missed or less politically engaged voters.

"We have to get our voters to do what they always do — show up at the polls and vote," said an official.

In Pennsylvania, Trump's team is registering voters at diverse locations, including places of worship, college tailgates, and Hispanic, Jewish, and Black community centers.
