Wade's Closed-Door Deposition: Grilling by House Judiciary Committee

Former Fulton County Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade faced four hours of questioning by House Judiciary Committee investigators on Tuesday, remaining tight-lipped before, during, and after the closed-door deposition.

Former Fulton County Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade has emerged from a lengthy closed-door deposition with the House Judiciary Committee, providing no comment to reporters despite the intense questioning he faced.

Wade, who was once tasked with investigating Donald Trump's alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia, spent over four hours answering questions from investigators. His legal team, which included former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes, refused to disclose any details of the deposition.

Barnes stated that Wade had "cooperated" with the committee's investigation but declined to elaborate on the effectiveness of the meeting or whether further follow-ups were expected.

The House Judiciary Committee has expressed interest in Wade's relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is leading the investigation into Trump's alleged election interference. A grand jury indicted Trump and 18 allies in August 2023 on charges including racketeering and conspiracy.

Wade was initially appointed as a special prosecutor in the case but stepped aside after it was revealed that he had begun a romantic relationship with Willis. The relationship has since ended.

In letters published by the Republican majority on the committee, Willis instructed Wade to "not answer any questions about his role in the election interference case or about any evidence in that case." Willis cited the need to protect ongoing proceedings and maintain legal privilege.

The committee has questioned whether Willis is attempting to conceal information, stating, "What is she trying to hide?"

Additionally, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan is investigating whether federal funds were used to finance the relationship between Wade and Willis during their joint work on the Trump probe.

One of Trump's co-defendants had sued to disqualify Willis and Wade from the case, alleging a conflict of interest and financial gain from the investigation. A Fulton County judge ruled that Willis could remain on the case if Wade was removed.

The Republican-led House Judiciary Committee is one of several groups investigating Trump's legal battles since he left office. Both Willis and Wade have maintained that their relationship did not interfere with the investigation and have accused Republicans of attempting to undermine the Fulton County probe.

Fox News reached out to the House Judiciary Committee for comment on Wade's deposition but has not yet received a response.
