Wisconsin Parents Outraged at Title IX "Delusion" in Local School District

Parents and community members in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, engaged in a heated debate over the local implementation of Title IX, with some expressing outrage at the potential inclusion of transgender students in bathrooms and locker rooms.

An Oshkosh area school district meeting in Wisconsin ignited a fierce debate among parents and community members over the local implementation of new Title IX rules, fueling impassioned discussions about transgender policies.

The meeting, held on August 14th, saw parents and members of the community voice their concerns and opinions on the changes to Title IX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.

One parent, Josh Vienola, expressed his outrage at the consideration of coed bathrooms and locker rooms, stating that "boys are boys and girls are girls." He added that "it's absolutely ridiculous that you guys are even considering letting bathrooms and locker rooms [be] coed... It's simple and basic."

In contrast, Kora Novy, self-proclaimed director of Oshkosh Pride, challenged the notion of a "roadblock" in the discussion, emphasizing the rights of all individuals to be protected from discrimination based on gender identity.

"What is this fight really about?" Novy questioned. "You don't get to impose [your] beliefs on anybody else, and that's actually what religious liberty is, it’s that you're right to believe that is protected but the other person that identifies as something also has a right to be protected."

Laura Ackermann, chapter chair of Winnebago County's Moms for Liberty, expressed concerns about the potential discomfort that female students may experience if transgender students were allowed to use the same bathrooms and locker rooms.

"The old Title IX was two paragraphs, and it was meant to protect girls and women in sports and education," Ackermann said. "The new policy, the new regulations are 1,500 pages... What the risk is with the new policy is it does potentially, in some instances, put the transgender student above the girls."

Ackermann highlighted the lack of recourse available to female students who may feel uncomfortable sharing bathrooms or locker rooms with transgender students under the new policy.

"If a transgender person wants to go into the opposite bathroom, under this law, you must let them," Ackermann continued. "If a girl complains because they're not comfortable with a male naked in their locker room, she has no recourse under this new policy."

The debate over transgender policies has sparked significant controversy, with opposing views clashing over parental control and the rights of LGBT students.

"Transgender policies have been a point of contention between those who believe parents should have more control over their children's education and those who think LGBT students should be allowed to decide what to tell their parents or not tell them," the article states.

Ackermann referred to a lawsuit she sent to the board, arguing that girls who are offended by transgender students using the girls' bathroom are asked to use a separate restroom, while the same question cannot be asked of transgender students.

She emphasized that the Oshkosh area schools are currently in compliance with Wisconsin state law 118.13 and deemed current policies to be "both state and federally compliant."

The Oshkosh area school district has yet to respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital on the matter.
